Receiving without resistance is the definition of passive. It is also the main component of passive solar energy as a home receives the sun’s energy and does not resist. True passive solar energy means no moving parts…fans, pumps, mechanical or electrical elements are not required. In a solar passive home you will sometimes find fans to help distribute air evenly throughout the building space, but expect it to be solar powered.

No photovoltaics (PV’s) are part of the passive solar energy design. Instead, walls windows and floors are used to collect solar energy during the winter, and to make sure it’s evenly dispersed. The design elements generally include large south-facing windows for solar energy collection when the sun hits them. As the sun is collected, it’s then distributed and stored in some type of thermal mass…usually the concrete, tile, stone or brick in the walls and floors…or sometimes it’s stored in water. When the sun goes down, or it clouds over and gets cool, heat that’s been stored in the thermal mass will dissipate into the building, maintaining the same even temperature. Roof overhangs and awnings are used in passive solar design to reject heat from coming into a building during the summer.

Coming from Roman and Greek cultures, our passive solar home designs today very much mimic their work in calculating the best use of the sun’s energy.

Taking advantage of passive solar design made sense then, and it makes even greater sense now. Driven by diminishing wood supplies, upon which they had relied greatly for heat, the Greeks and Romans began to design passive solar energy homes to reduce their reliance on wood for heating. We can certainly learn and take advantage of what they discovered, and allow it to help us eliminate or supplement our need for non-renewable energy sources.

Passive solar heating doesn’t emit greenhouse gases. It’s completely renewable and extremely clean. Created to maintain an even temperature throughout the building, passive solar heating designs are perceived by homeowners as cleaner and more comfortable than other heating and cooling methods.

Passive solar hot water heaters are another way most passive solar home owners further decrease their energy bill, and their reliance on non-renewable resources. There are three basic types of passive solar water heaters: flat-plate, batch heaters, and evacuated tube heaters. Of these, batch heaters are the most prevalent and popular. Perhaps that is because batch heaters are fairly easy projects for the do-it-yourselfer. If you want to build your own, you’ll need to find an electric hot water tank…generally you can purchase either a salvaged one or find one that’s been disposed of in the dump. It will need to be thoroughly cleaned and sealed, and then painted black. Then, add new fittings and pipes to make sure you won’t have leaks later on. Construct a well-insulated plywood box, drill holes for the pipes to fit through, add aluminum foil or other metal for a reflectant, and place the tank inside, fitting the pipes through the holes. Cover the front of the box with glass or plexiglass, seal it, add water, and you’re ready go to. You may want a more detailed explanation, and there are a variety of plans available, but those are the basics.

You can also use a batch, or what is sometimes also referred to as a breadbox heater, with a staged design system. Using more than one encased heater, you can place them in different areas around your home. This allows you to take advantage of the sun’s various angles to obtain the most heat from the sun’s hottest rays. Other passive hot water systems, including flat plate and evacuated tube are also used in solar passive homes. However, they aren’t always as effective, and their designs are more compatible with professional installation.

There you have it…numerous benefits of going solar. But in case you’re not quite convinced, here’s a few more. There’s no global warming with solar energy. You won’t see headlines in the news about the sun spilling into the ocean, creating miles of oil slick, killing wildlife, destroying businesses and the tourist trade…or damaging our fragile environmental ecosystem. Solar energy doesn’t create acid rain, nor does it create smog.

When you really stop and think about it, there are so many “pros” to solar energy, it’s hard to accept the fact that it’s taken us this long to discover…or rediscover…how to receive and use the sun’s energy without resistance.

For years the human race has been living their lives not really caring about using up the resources in the world. However, not I believe it’s caught up with us and we can now for the first time see the dangers. People are now turning to alternative power sources as their primary power source.

Solar residential energy system is gaining popularity all over the world as people seek affordable, reliable and renewable energy for home use.

Solar residential power was initially used only by people who where away from the main power lines.

However, these days, they have gained such popularity, trust and acceptance due to its low costs and environment friendliness.

Many homes utilize solar power for lighting, cooking, heating, cooling, powering electric and electronic equipments and providing hot water for pools and other home uses.

An initial investment is required in order to tap the solar power just like any other power source.

However, the solar power will give you a great return on investments in a short period of time compared to non-renewable energy which will keep demanding higher and frequent bills.

Solar residential power can run a home setting exclusively during a moderately hot season, that is, without resorting to other power options.

During the extreme heat season, the power supply from the solar energy system will be abundant. However, a secondary power source may be necessary during the extreme cold seasons.

The secondary power source can be generators, main power grid or other alternatives like wood and wind.

Note that even homes that utilize solar to provide forty to seventy percent of their power needs save lots of money on power over a very short time.

What many people are quick to ask is how much the initial solar residential power installation costs.

This depends on a number of factors including the size of the house, the number of occupants in a household, the number or electric and electronic devices that require electric power and their power ratings.

An ordinary household that relies on such power for lighting, running a number of electronic devices, heating, cooling, cooking and heating water may invest about $2, 000 in the power system.

Smaller households with lesser demands for power may need about $1, 000 to have sufficient power installed.

Once you choose to install a solar residential power system in your house, new wiring will not be necessary.

The power system may be installed on your current wiring setup. All you need to do is get a qualified and licensed technician to do the wiring.

For safety however, it is a good idea to have a supplier of the solar equipment install them.

The solar system will always have a warranty on them; you don’t have to worry on the quality of the devices, their performance and what to do in case of failure.

How complex or simple a solar residential power system can be depends on the equipments in use, the purpose of the system and the amount of power it produces.

They range from simple do-it-yourself systems to complex digital hi- tech digital systems.

Let us save the earth’s dwindling resources and stop environmental pollution by switching to solar power. You will not only save money but also reduce global warming and save the world we live in.

Solar power is all around us, and is energy that comes directly from the sun. It’s everywhere and everything. Humans have always depended on the sun for many things – warmth, light and more. The best type of energy out there is solar energy! It is also safer and better for the environment.

For years now, society has been using solar energy for a wide variety of things. Some of these things include drying clothes, the production of electricity, and the heating of water. That’s still not all of the uses for this specific type of energy. Solar powered calculators have been popular for years. Fans can run on solar power, and pools are heated with simple covers that collect the sun’s heat. Did you know that you can also cook with it! As electricity costs rise and the focus on protecting the environment increases, more and more people are taking notice of solar energy. They’re seeing how it can be put to use to save electricity. Prices of technology used to harness the sun’s power have decreased, making solar energy more affordable and popular than ever.

This form of energy is really interesting and has many interesting facts. It is measured in kilowatts. Did you know that we use about thirty percent to heat our water? The technology used to collect and store solar energy has been around for years. Back in 1447, Leonardo Da Vinci envisioned some of the methods that are being used today.

Some people are “<noindex>going green</noindex>” and eliminating a lot of things from their home. Electricity is one of them. Going green doesn’t mean that you have to live without electricity. It just means getting your power from solar panels at your home. Many people make the switch because it saves them money and also helps the environment. You can buy a solar energy system for your home, or put one together yourself. You’ll need solar panels, a battery, an inverter, wiring and structure support.

Solar energy is pretty neat. It’s limitless. Did you know that in a year, the entire population of the world couldn’t use all of the sunlight that reaches the earth during that time? This kind of energy is pretty powerful. It’s strong enough to impact weather patterns and ocean currents.

If the sun is blocked, its rays will not be able to reach the earth. Wind and clouds can also stop and block the sun’s rays. Pollution also has the same effect. We could do so much with this energy, we could cut down on so many things and use the energy that we receive from the sun.

Americans account for only five percent of the world’s population, but we use about twenty six percent of its energy. Taking care of the environment is not hard to do at all. This energy is one way to help save resources. Use what you have instead of creating something new.

Energy from the sun is all natural and is used to power so many things that we operate in our society today. The environment has taken care of people for many years and will continue to take care of them for many more to come. You can start making the world a better place to be by using the energy that is already supplied instead of cutting down trees and decreasing oxygen levels for animals as well as humans.

If you are interested in doing your part, check out <noindex>solar panels for sale</noindex> and <noindex>solar panels</noindex> online. You’ll find that this technology of the future is attainable today.

The office may be among the largest users of energy in the home. Here are a few simple tips to help you be energy efficient in your office.

#1 Connect everything in the office into a power strip.

Computers, printers, recharging stations, radios or televisions and even your light fixtures can be connected to power strips. At the conclusion of each day or each working session, turn off your various electronics but also turn off the power strip.

This can conserve a significant amount of energy since many electronics continue using power even when they’ve been powered down. Turning off the power strip eliminates energy consumption when the electronics are not in use. And only turning on the item when you have to use it saves power too.

Additionally, many power strips are surge protectors, that provides the electronics protection from powerful electrical surges which is often caused by lightening and other factors.

#2 Passive Solar & Wind Energy

Passive solar is the technique of using the sun’s energy passively For example, you can utilize the sun’s energy to warm the office in the winter time by opening the curtains and letting the sun’s rays heat your office. In the summertime you’d want to close the drapes to help your office remain cool.

The wind’s power can also be used to cool the office in the summertime by producing cross breezes. Open windows on opposing sides of the office to produce a path for the air current to flow. As the air passes through your office it can help it stay cool.

Fans are also a great help and even though they usually run on electricity, they are more affordable cooling methods than air conditioning which could cost more than $500 a summer.

#3 Active Solar

There are numerous office products on the market today that use solar cells to maximize the sun’s energy. You can purchase laptop bags with solar cells to provide power to your laptop. You can buy solar recharging stations and recharge all your electronics. You can even purchase solar powered electronics.

Lastly, organizing your office for maximum ventilation will help it stay cool in the summertime. For those who have boxes piled and furnishings sitting over vents there won’t be any way for the cool air to flow into in your office. Clean house and reduce clutter for optimum energy savings.

There are numerous methods to become more power efficient in your office. Use the power of the sun and the wind for cooling and heating and be smart about switching off and on your electronics whenever you will need them. Use only as much as you’ll need.

I was first introduced to solar energy in the movie, Race the Sun with James Belushi and Halley Berry in the lead. It was a story about low- income and under achieving Hawaiian students encouraged by their teacher to join the Solar Car race. In the movie, a car shaped like a cockroach and covered with solar panels used the sun’s rays as an alternative energy source to run the car.

Solar energy is the light and the heat from the sun. Solar energy is free and its supplies are unlimited. There are n air and water pollution caused about by using solar energy. But there is still some impacts on the environment although indirect.

Photovoltaic cells used to convert sunlight into electricity uses silicon and also produce some waste materials. There are also large solar thermal farms and these farms can also be harmful to the environment and desert ecosystems if not properly managed.

Solar energy can be used on different aspects. Solar energy can be used in agriculture. Greenhouses (which is entirely different from greenhouse gas) convert solar light to heat to be maximized in enhancing the growth of plants and crops. Greenhouses has been around since the Roman times and modern greenhouses were built in Europe in 16th century. Greenhouses are still an important part of horticulture nowadays,

Daylight systems are also being used to maximize the energy released by the sun. It is used to provide interior illumination replacing the artificial lighting. Daylight systems include sawtooth roofs, light shelf, skylights, and light tube. Daylight systems when they are properly implemented can reduce lighting-related energy consumption by 25 percent.

Solar energy can also be developed into solar thermal technologies which can be used for water heating, space heating, space cooling and process heat generation. Solar energy can also be used to distil water and make saline or brackish water potable or drinkable.

The solar water disinfection or SODIS involves exposing water-filled plastic polyethylene terephthalate or PET bottles. This process takes a long time, since the exposure time varies on the weather conditions. It requires a minimum of six hours to two days during days with overcast conditions. Currently, there are two million people in developing centuries use SODIS for their daily drinking water needs.

Also sunlight can be converted into electricity using photovoltaics or PV. PV has been mainly used to power small and medium-sized things like a calculator powered by a single solar cell. There are homes powered by photovoltaics. Using solar energy for water and space heating is the most widely use application of solar energy. While ventilation and solar air heating is also growing in popularity.

There are three main ways in using solar energy. The main way of using and converting solar energy is by using the solar cells. Solar cells convert light directly into electricity. Solar cells are also called photovoltaic or photoelectric cells.

Meanwhile, solar furnaces use a huge array of mirrors to concentrate on the Sun’s energy into a small space and produced very high temperatures. Solar furnaces are also called “solar cookers”. A solar cooker can be used in hot countries to cook food.

With all the benefits if using solar energy, there is still a downside for this alternative energy source. It does not work during night time. The cost of setting up solar stations is expensive, but the benefit of using solar energy when accumulated is so much more.

With years came the destruction of many valuable resources. Today the world is faced with the biggest problem; lack of resources to carry out even the most mundane duties of a persons day to day life. This shortage of fuel, water and other important resources has raised issues in many countries. Today, the usage of alternative energy sources has become important than never before.

Electricity is consumed in large amounts in today’s world. One of the main reasons for this is the rapid change of technology. When a high number of hi tech equipment, vehicles, etc enters the market, the people are inclined to purchase it. In the past although governments did not stress about it, a shortage of natural resources in the long term was a visible fact by most people. This is why finding alternative energy sources are a necessary and important factor.

Countries that supply oil are aware of these shortages and therefore increase their prices each year. The more we lose the more problems we are faced with. Many governments are ready to go ahead with alternative energy sources, simply because of the high prices in the already lacking resources.

Shortages in oil and other natural resources is not something that was identified recently. It was actually first experienced in the 1970’s by the Americans who had to wait in long queues to fill up their vehicles with fuel. The supply of gas was not enough to provide to all the households in America. The great United States was faced with a big problem. This resulted in the search for alternative energy sources.

Many have come forward in their search for alternative energy sources and have provided information that there are alternative energy sources that can be used at a lower cost. Nevertheless, each and every human being knows that the resources we use today come with heavy price tags.

The usage of wind, water and sun are the main components in the number of alternative energy sources found in the present day. It has been experimented and proved that geothermal power; hydropower or even solar power can be utilized in the production of electricity.

There may be several alternative energy sources that can be put to use, but not everyone can experience the same thing from different geographical locations. Simply stated, a person living in an area with fewer winds would not be able to experience the electricity generated by using the wind.

The same goes for individuals living in areas with less exposure to the sun. Solar power cannot be used in such locations. This proves that not every geographic location can be utilized for the generation of electricity.

Described by former CIA Director James Woolsey: “A plug-in hybrid is an electric car with an insurance policy – a gas engine.” No better description can I find than that. A solar powered hybrid is a vehicle that relies primarily on solar powered electricity. However, to supplement and ensure operation, most also have a gas engine that kicks in under certain pre-specified conditions, or when the battery is depleted.

There are two types of hybrid cars on the market today…one is called a PHEV, or a plug-in hybrid, and the other is simply a hybrid. The difference between the two hybrids is the battery. A PHEV has a battery capacity about 10 times that of the normal hybrid battery, and can be recharged by plugging into an electrical outlet. A standard hybrid vehicle has a smaller battery, and recharges an electric motor that runs in conjunction with the gas engine by its operation. By true definition, a solar powered hybrid car would be either the standard hybrid vehicle, or a PHEV that was charged on a solar energy system.

New advances in batteries are making the movement to full solar powered cars with zero emission vehicles for families, as well as individuals, and commercial use, more and more viable. Many people with solar vehicles are opting for solar panels on their roofs for a solar system used to charge their vehicles and, in many cases, also create all the electricity necessary to run their homes. However, until electric vehicles can operate for the same long distances without recharging as a standard vehicle can currently go between gas or diesel fill-ups, hybrids can provide the best solution.

If each of us were to closely examine the environmental damage done by fossil fuel usage, and add it to how much it costs us to drive our vehicles every day, we would all have either solar powered, or solar powered hybrids parked in our garages and driveways when we arrived home every day.

Solar power for vehicles, and other energy needs, absent entrenched economic interests and politics, would be in a different place than it is today.

The electric hybrid, or a solar powered hybrid car is, for the moment, the best option available for driving longer distances — an electric car that runs clean and efficiently with less pollution, with a back-up system to ensure operation at all times.

If you want to know what’s currently available, here’s what the Kelley Book (a widely used reference for establishing vehicle values) lists as hybrid models available in the United States for 2010 and 2011:

-	Toyota Prius
-	Honda Insight
-	Toyota Camry
-	Ford Fusion
-	Honda Civic
-	Toyota Highlander
- Ford Escape
-	Lexus, various hybrid models: RX & GS 450h, HS 250h, LS 600h
-	Nissan Altima
-	Mercedes-Benz S-Class & ML-Class
-	Cadillac Escalade
-	Chevrolet Tahoe
-	Mercury Mariner & Milan
-	BMW X6
-	Chevrolet Malibu
-	GMC Yukon
-	Saturn VUE and Aura
-	Chevrolet Silverado (pick-up) 1500
-	GMC Sierra (pick-up) 1500 Crew Cab

Their “top green cars for 2010″ list sites the following hybrids (in reverse order):

*	2010 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid
*	2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
*	2010 Ford Escape Hybrid
*	2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid
*	2010 Honda Insight (hybrid)
*	2010 Toyota Prius (hybrid)

Change isn’t easy for very many of us. It’s up to us, though, if we really want to embrace the move to solar energy, and solar powered cars, to take action. With all of the political pressure there is by industry lobbyists, we need to apply an even greater amount of pressure collectively by contacting our representatives, and insisting they support the kinds of incentives that will move solar energy to parity or beyond, in order to quickly and efficiently decimate our dependence on fossil fuels…for our vehicles and for our homes.

An important step can be made with the purchase of a hybrid or solar powered vehicle. Particularly with the dual option of plugging into the grid…that utility company electrical outlet…or plugging in off the grid…the electricity generated by your own solar panels, you’re making a highly responsible, cost effective way of reducing our carbon footprint.

Of course if you live in a very sunny city such as Tucson, Arizona then you will probably want to go the solar panel route. On the other hand if you live somewhere where there is not much sunlight then you’ll most likely need to go the windmill route.

Regardless of which method you make use of, you will be able to construct your green electricity generator for about $200 which is really quite an incredible deal when you think about how much cash you will be saving on your electricity bill month after month. In fact, if you can generate extra power you can sell the extra electricity back to the electric company and make a profit!

It is understandable if this sounds “too good to be true” but the reassuring thing is that this guide is 100% satisfaction guaranteed with a two month cash back refund period which means if you try it out and you are not happy with it, you can very easily get your cash back.

You really have nothing to lose by trying it out. On the other hand, you have a whole lot to gain. You will be doing more than your to reverse global warming (you will be “greener” than Al Gore himself!) and you will also be saving a ton of cash.

Creating an intense demand for energy, the third world is waiting to be filled with the light of solar energy resources.

Living in small, one-room homes where solar energy bounds, many third world homes are still without electricity. Most live simply with kerosene lamps for heat and light, if they have anything. Those that want or can afford a bit more get car batteries that they use to provide power for small lights and heaters. To keep their car batteries charged, they will take them, or have them taken to the nearest village to have them recharged as often as they can. If they can’t afford to have the battery recharged, they do without the light or heat it may provide. Children, who are attempting to learn and study without light, are probably the most affected…their eyes by the poor lighting, and their scholastic endeavors by the lack of heat and light. Many third world residents are impoverished by the lack of electrical power.

A conventional energy supply grid just costs too much for the government or a local entity to install, especially in remote areas. Solar energy, however, both at individual sites and in larger arrays for communities in rural areas can provide a real opportunity for both “on-the-grid” and “off-the-grid” living. It’s not only a viable solution; it’s something that makes good sense.

The Oprah Winfrey Foundation, along with a number of other charities in the United States, are making large contributions to help third world residents get clean, renewable energy, focusing especially on solar energy, to be used for access to water as well as heat and lights.

Another very involved partner is SELF, Solar Energy Light Fund. Their mission is to “provide solar power and wireless communications to a quarter of the world’s population living in energy poverty.” It’s a daunting mission…one they’ve not only taken on, but have been very successful at. Bringing solar power in western China to 1,000 households in fourteen villages, they have worked in many areas with local governments and agencies to help self-fund the building and distribution of small-scale photovoltaic systems. They have worked to help scattered Masai herder tribes acquire solar-powered telephones in Tanzania. They have installed photovoltaic systems in schools and clinics in many third world countries, and are currently very involved in a project in Haiti that will help bring solar-powered medical clinics across the country into being.

One of the primary ways third world residents obtain fuel and build shelter is by stripping their trees. This uses up with minimal foliage they have, and results in a loss of natural shade and shelter, as well as the forest’s filtering capabilities. They also burn animal dung for fuel, creating toxic fumes, and diminishing this source of natural fertilizer. With just one or two PV panels connected to a battery pack, and properly located to maximize capture of the sun’s energy, they can have year-around heat and lights in many locations, as well as small televisions or radios, without using trees or animal dung.

Walking many miles daily to the nearest village for water, rural residents have spent valuable hours that they can use more productively. Adding pipes and solar energy power pumps to homes or central village locations brings water directly to rural residents for both drinking and irrigation. This allows them to grow more crops and to create a more sustainable lifestyle.

Solar stoves, solar water heaters, solar panels to produce enough electricity for lights, computers, radio and television, along with power for irrigation systems can make the difference between living in poverty, and living in abundance in a third world country.

Helping individuals and communities in third world countries build an infrastructure to support solar energy use is good…it’s good for them…and as it creates a better world…it’s good for us.

As all of us rely less on fossil fuels to support our basic needs, and more on renewable energy like solar, we will have more and more freedom…from energy barons…and from our own self-destruction through pollution and global warming.

Did you know that you could save thousands of dollars every year by using solar power? Did you also know that by using solar power, you are going to not only be saving money for yourself but saving the earth a little bit, by not using your share of resources?

The best solar power info you can find is going to tell you that not only is solar power good for you, it is fantastic for the environment. This is because, as you will find when you look for solar power info, you are not using up resources that can’t be remade, like coals and other resources.

Instead, you are using something that is remade every single day. Each day provides more sunlight, and each day you can harness this power to actually have your own power in your home.

How To Do It

If you are looking for solar power info, the best thing you are going to find is that even though putting in solar power panels and attaching them to your home might take time and money, it is going to be worth it in the end. Most of the solar power info says that you need to do three things.

You have to install the solar panels, and these should be put somewhere that gets a lot of sun, like the roof of your home. After that, you need to install a generator, that takes the solar heat and turns it into power that you can use. After that, you are going to have to rewire your home so that it can run on the solar power.

All of the solar power info will say that this is something that might take a while, and it is something that is difficult, so if you have no knowledge of how to install and use these things, you should find someone who does to install them for you.

You should also know that while solar power info is not quite complete, they do have enough to tell you that not only are you going to be able to provide your own energy for your home, you are going to be able to, most of the time, make extra money that you can sell to the electric companies.

This means that you are going to be able to have your own power, and a little bit extra money for yourself to book. Solar power info says that this system is one of the best things that you can do; for yourself, and for the environment.

How to use the solar power is becming more and more important and it is related to <noindex>home security</noindex> and it is usually used to help the <noindex>fujitsu heat pumbs</noindex>.
